WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
| Dominique R. Jolly, CERAM Business School, Dean of the Faculty, Conference Chair |
It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you at CERAM Business School for the third EuroMOT Conference. This is the third edition of the European Chapter of the IAMOT conference series. I would like to express my appreciation to the Executive Committee of IAMOT for entrusting me with the responsibility for this third edition. The first two took place in Birmingham (United Kingdom). The fourth one will be held in Glasgow (UK) next September.
CERAM is one of the leading French Business Schools. We are very lucky to be right in the center of the high-tech park of Sophia Antipolis. This park is a unique place in Europe because it was the first techno park to be created. Sophia Antipolis exemplifies the concepts of knowledge economy, technology and innovation management. It is a place dedicated to research and development. Most of the major French research centers have developed a local unit: CNRS, INRIA, INRA, … The park hosts more than 1.200 companies – mostly high-tech, including: Amadeus, NXP, Hewlett-Packard, SAP, Schneider Electric, Thales, Altran, Trema, Galderma, …
In line with the IAMOT history, the EuroMOT 2008 conference is going to be truly international as we welcome people from more than 30 countries! For this conference, a broad interpretation of the concept of Technology Management and Innovation has been adopted. Technology is not only considered simply as an asset or a capability to manage but also as a factor that has an impact on almost every management method and practice. Our intent is to bring together academics, researchers and industry practitioners. EuroMOT is for our knowledge community the forum to share the latest state of the art developments, to stimulate the exchange of ideas, views, and impressions, experiences and practices.
This booklet is a roadmap for your stay. It describes the schedule of the different sessions. You will be able to identify the plenary sessions. Yet, this program is also intended to help you make your selection amongst the different parallel tracks: sessions from the academic tracks, sessions from the business track, special events and company’ visits.
I want to thank the more than 230 authors that did submit a contribution for the EuroMOT 2008 Conference, the Track Chairs of the Scientific Committee that did a major job in organizing the selection process and the 40 reviewers that carefully scanned all these submissions. I thank presenters, the chairs of the 28 sessions of the ‘Academic Tracks’, the 40 business people who accepted to join our ‘Business Track’ and our key-note speakers. Truly, this conference comes to life thanks to you! My gratitude goes as well to all the people at CERAM who have done the best they can to welcome you. A special thank to Marc Augier, who maintained the conference website, Hamid Mazloomi, who acted as the program coordinator and Catherine Galimant – who has been tremendously helpful in making things as smooth as possible.
I wish good luck to all participants for fruitful interactions with other conference attendees! I also wish that you will be able to extend your stay so as to enjoy our marvelous region. This includes the seaside city of Nice and the famous Riviera (Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Saint-Tropez, …). You might even use the Nice port as a gate to Corsica
